Where
is God?
The master became a legend in his life time. It
is said that God sought his advice.
“I want to play a game of hide and seek with humankind.
I have asked my Angels what is the best place to hide in.
Some say the depths of the ocean. Others say the top of the highest
mountain. Still others say the dark side of the moon or a distant
star. What do you suggest?”
Said the Master, “Hide in the human heart, it’s
the last place they will look.”
I want to have a conversation with you which will explore this Journey without Distance. This movement from head to heart, seeking an experience of God Communion. Beyond the notes in our music or words in any prayer, we are praying to the same God. The same God is asking us to make the journey from the head to the heart, from judgment to innocence, from social consciousness to God Consciousness.
The voice of God is only as loud as our willingness to listen. Upon arrival in the heart our task is to become discerning listeners. Our part is remembering that our God is constantly reminding us how loved we are. Through our own language, in our own culture, in our own prayers we are all learning to practice this discerning listening. And then one day in a million days or 100 years or more we will be sharing the earth without borders or boundaries and sharing our God without restrictions like we unconsciously share the air.
As we become more familiar with the safety inherent in this innocence, we come to realize the door to the Golden
Rule is locked with/by our judgments. Our brave journey through - vulnerability to innocence leads us to unlock and then open the door, to cross the spiritual threshold and face in other culture's mirrors of ourselves. To begin to see how we treat our neighbors is how we are treating ourselves.
This is the gift our neighbor is offering us - this blessing in disguise. When we find we want to withdraw our love or a wanting to defend, an unwillingness to forgive, a desire to punish or even to kill, we admit freely we do not want to be treated that way.
My new record invites more of the human family, in all faiths, into these conversations. ' It is full of encouragement to keep practicing the ways of remembrance of our true nature - to love each other as we would like to be loved.
Not to seek success, but to seek more consistent practicing and invite more of our fellows into the conversation.
Not to expect to succeed - for our expectations only lead to disappointment. To seek only more consistent practice, becoming more familiar with this conscious movement from judgment to innocence, from our fears of each other to risking loving each other. Moving from social consciousness to God consciousness. Accepting the prerequisite struggle of our challenge and to acknowledge and slowly come to understand that what we share is stronger than what divides us. Continuing this 5000 year journey, this Journey without Distance to a goal that never changed.
The holiest place on earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love.(ACIM)
All faiths and cultures share devotional exercise. We are all exercising to become more familiar with our personal experience of rest and safety, of peace, and the assurances of how Loved we are. Beyond the resentments we nurse and the grudges we hold. The experience we all long for, all pine for secretly, is our experience of innocence. To become as a little child. Yet innocent of what? Innocent of judgment. A decision only an adult can make. Just for some moments, exercising the opening doors of our hearts. Beyond the form of our prayers, to the God communion we are all seeking. To open and experience how much vulnerability can we tolerate and for how long? How much joy? How long does pure joy last?
If we but knew the meaning of Gods Love…hope and despair would be impossible. For hope would be forever fulfilled, and despair of any kind unthinkable. If we knew the meaning of Gods Love.(ACIM)(paraphrase)
It is part modern psychology, which is about perception, and part mystical spirituality which, again, is about perception. Our fears disappear like fog in the sun when we remember we can change our perception from the cold darkness of what we think is threatening us, to the warm light of safety and security.
